SUMMARY:IN-PERSON | Picture Book Hour Live! Josh Funk & Carrie Finison
DESCRIPTION:Live and in person at Brookline Booksmith! Join us for a special Picture Book Hour with authors Josh Funk (My Pet Feet) and Carrie Finison (Hurry, Little Tortoise, Time for School!).\nRegister for the event!\nRSVP to let us know you’re coming! Depending on the volume of responses, an RSVP may be required for entrance to the event. You will also be alerted to important details about the program, including safety requirements, cancellations, and book signing updates.\nMy Pet Feet\nWhen the letter R suddenly vanishes, a whole town goes upside-down in this side-splitting picture book of alphabet chaos that’s Can I Be Your Dog? meets P Is for Pterodactyl.\nA little girl wakes up one day to find that R, a vital piece of the alphabet, has vanished! Suddenly, she has pet feet instead of a ferret. Flocks of cows replace crows flying in the sky. Giant shoes (not shores!) live on the sandy beaches of her town.\nWhat could have happened to the eighteenth letter of the alphabet? Did it get lost—or stolen? One way or another, the town needs to be saved!\nJosh Funk is a software engineer and the author of books like the Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast series, the It’s Not a Fairy Tale series, the How to Code with Pearl and Pascal series, the A Story of Patience & Fortitude series, Dear Dragon, My Pet Feet, and more.\nHurry, Little Tortoise, Time for School!\nIt’s the first day of school and Little Tortoise is ready with a backpack filled with new school supplies. Little Tortoise can’t wait to get to school and tries very hard not to be the last student there.\nBut soon Cheetah, Llama, and even a snail on a scooter overtake her.\nAnd then when she gets stuck in the gutter of the book, she’s sure she’ll be the last pupil to arrive! But the timely arrival of Mr. Sloth, her new teacher, changes everything.\nGentle reassuring language full of wordplay, and bold and bright art by an up and coming artist offer students a comforting story about this new experience. Here’s a fresh way to encourage reluctant students to be on their way.\nCarrie Finison writes picture books with humor and heart, including Dozens of Doughnuts (Putnam, 2020) and Don’t Hug Doug (Putnam, 2021), an ALA Notable Children’s Book. Her newest books are Lulu & Zoey: A Sister Story (Running Press Kids, 2022), and Hurry, Little Tortoise, Time for School! (Random House Studio, 2022). She lives outside of Boston with her husband, son, and daughter, and two cats who have given her permission to work in their cozy attic office. Visit her online at www.carriefinison.com, or follow her on Twitter or Instagram @CarrieFinison.\n
