Ross, Joan Naviyuk Kane, Julie Choffel, & David Blair.\nThis event is part of Third Thursdays Poetry, a monthly reading series at Brookline Booksmith.\nRegister for the event!\nRSVP to let us know you’re coming! You will also be alerted to important details about the program, including safety requirements, cancellations, and book signing updates.\nThird Thursdays Poetry: January\nAnna V. Q. Ross is the author of Flutter, Kick (Red Hen Press, 2022), winner of the Benjamin Saltman Poetry Award. Other recent work appears or is forthcoming in Harvard Review, The Kenyon Review, The Nation, and The Missouri Review. A recipient of fellowships from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Fulbright Foundation, she is poetry editor for Salamander, and teaches at Tufts University and through the Emerson Prison Initiative. Anna lives with her family in Dorchester, MA, where she runs the performance series Unearthed Song & Poetry and raises chickens.\nJoan Naviyuk Kane is a visiting assistant professor and visiting poet at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Inupiaq with family from Ugiuvak and Qawiaraq, her books and chapbooks of poetry and prose have been supported by fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, Harvard’s Radcliffe Institute, Brown’s Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race, the Rasmuson Foundation, the School for Advanced Research, and the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation. She has received the Whiting Writer’s Award, an American Book Award, the United States Artists Creative Vision Award, and the Donald Hall Prize. She raises her children in Cambridge.\nJulie Choffel is the author most recently of The Inevitable Return of What We Do Not Love. Her work has appeared in RHINO, Barrow Street, Orion, New American Writing, and Posit.\nDavid Blair is the author of five books of poetry and a collection of essays. He teaches in the MFA Writing Program at the University of New Hampshire and lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with his wife and daughter. “Maybe nobody since the days of Schuyler and O’Hara has done so much with such American free verse to bring us, observantly, carefully, to this place, right now.”—Stephanie Burt, on True Figures: Selected Shorter Poems and Prose Poems, 1998-2001.\n
