Pitched to Published: How Do You Structure an Article?
Learn how to raise your profile by publishing articles in industry trade journals and high-visibility business magazines.
About this event
Are you interested in raising your profile by publishing articles in industry trade journals and business magazines? Join Erica Holthausen, founder of Catchline Communications, for Pitched to Published. During this free monthly Zoom call, she will demystify the process of writing, pitching, and publishing articles that build your authority and position you as a sought-after expert.
What’s on the docket this month?
This month, we’ll be talking about structuring an article to be focused and compelling. We’ll look at how the lede, body, and conclusion work together and discuss what makes writing for the web different from writing for print.
What is Pitched to Published?
Pitched to Published is a gathering of experts interested in learning more about the process of writing, pitching, and publishing articles in industry trade journals and business magazines like Inc., Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Fast Company.
The call starts with 10 to 15 minutes of sharing resources and ideas. We’ll then open the floor to questions and do our best to provide thoughtful answers and practical next steps. Some of the questions you might ask include:
- How do you pitch an article?
- Where should you pitch an article?
- What media outlets accept contributed content?
- What are the pros and cons of a pay-to-play model?
- Can you push back on a change suggested by your editor?
- What should you write about?
- What does it mean to write on spec?
- What is the lede, and why does it matter?
- How do you craft a good headline?
When and where?
Pitched to Published is hosted the second Wednesday of each month from 11:55 AM to 1:00 PM EST. The call is hosted on Zoom. It is not recorded.
