Sales have never been higher for romance novels. The books that used to be seen as guilty pleasures and snubbed by “serious” readers have been flying off the shelves. They command their own bookstores, dedicated columnists, and thousands of book clubs. As the fervor grows, some romance novelists are breaking the mold to tell authentic, inclusive stories of “love is love is love…”
Kalyani Saxena, Here & Now producer and avid romance reader, moderates a conversation with New York Times best-selling romance novelists Beverly Jenkins, Ali Hazelwood, and another author to be announced about their books, the popularity of the genre, and how it’s evolving.
