WEST YARMOUTH, MA.
The West Yarmouth Library Association was incorporated February 4, 1891, to establish and maintain a library. Dues were fifty cents a year and the Library was to be opened every Saturday afternoon.
The West Yarmouth Library Association (WYLA) is now a group of “Friends of the Library” whose mission is to raise funds to provide materials and programs not covered in the library’s operating budget. WYLA conducts an annual fund drive, encourages gifts and other support for the library and administers funds already left in trust. With WYLA’s support, The West Yarmouth Library is able to provide craft programs, summer reading programs, Yarmouth Reads, invest in technology and acquire online resources. In addition, the Association funds museum passes, library furniture, Volunteer Appreciation Day, and co-sponsors the Who-ville Express with South Yarmouth Library Association. Regular fundraising projects include the Book Sale Shelf at the West Yarmouth Library and the outdoor summer book, hotdog lunch and craft sale in conjunction with the Cape Cod Village Crafters.
